Energy Saving Concepts & Product Reviews!

Heat at home, heat at work, heat at night, heat in your garage... these are all thoughts that should pass through the minds of thrifty consumers. Just how much heat is enough and how should we produce it. Everyone enjoys a warm house on a cool night, it just makes life more pleasurable. But when can we turn down the thermostat and save a few dollars, or maybe even a whole lot of dollars. These are decisions we make everyday both as homeowners and as business owners. No doubt your employees wouldn't be too happy if you turned off the heat in January while the office was still occupied, nor would your family members if you turned down the thermostat at supper time.

natural gas heating Home heating can be achieved using many sources of fuel including natural gas, electricity, wood, and fuel oil. In one way or another fossil fuels must be burned to achieve heat. Back in the 1970's when there was an energy crunch homeowners and home builders were encouraged to install electric heating using baseboards or forced hot air. This was supposed to be the way of the future because of fossil fuel shortages. Later as electricity costs rose and fossil fuel costs declined there were regrets. Then there was a push for natural gas heating. The new clean and efficient method of home heating was supposed to be the answer to our prayers. In time, natural gas heating became less affordable as gas rates continued to rise along with the demand.

How can you ultimately save on heating costs? The easiest answer is energy conservation... It can be achieved by being informed, educated, and diligent. The walls and attic of your home needs to be insulated adequately. Windows need to be double pane glass. Doors should close tightly and seal. Thermostats should be set at a reasonable temperature. Many homes are vacant during work or school hours and programmable trhermostates can save huge amounts of wasted heat. The most important thing to remember is the benefits of conserving energy are multi-dimensional. Save yourself money, which of course is the benefit most of us can enjoy right now. You'll also do your part to save our earth for future generations to flourish as we have. electric heating
